Stipendium

The Society for Army Historical Research provides University Research Grants [URG] to encourage and support research on the British Army or of the Land Forces of the British Empire and the Commonwealth by undergraduate and graduate students. One grant of up to £1000 and two grants of up to £500 are awarded each year. Applications are welcomed world-wide from any student who is currently studying at a University or similar institution.

Im Frühjahr 2015 nimmt das Berliner Kolleg Kalter Krieg (Berlin Center for Cold War Studies) seine Arbeit auf. Es handelt sich um ein gemeinsames Projekt des Hamburger Instituts für Sozialforschung, des Instituts für Zeitgeschichte München – Berlin, der Bundesstiftung zur Aufarbeitung der SED-Diktatur sowie der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.

Established in 1921 to encourage the study of the history and traditions of the British Army, the Society for Army Historical Research is one of the nation’s oldest military history societies. Since its early days, the society has expanded its interests which now include non-regular and auxiliary British military formations such as Militia, Yeomanry, and the Territorial Army, as well as the crown offices and civil institutions that maintained them.

The German Historical Institute in Moscow has partnered with the international project 1914-1918-online. International Encyclopedia of the First World War (www.1914-1918-online.net). The 1914-1918-online project aims to illustrate the global and regional dimensions of the First World War within the scope of an online encyclopedia. In addition to thematic articles and an overview of current research on the First World War, the encyclopedia will make audio and visual materials available to the public.

The International Research Center of the Historial de la Grande Guerre annually awards research grants to students who are currently engaged in research for a Ph.D. on the First World War or a subject directly related to the conflict.

The competition is open to French and foreign students from all disciplinary backgrounds. The deadline for submitting an application is "Thursday 28 February 2013". Candidates should submit an application of not more than 20 pages containing the following:

· a C.V.

· a covering letter

· a letter from the Ph.D. supervisor
